Oluwaseyanu Needs Your Help

"I humbly write to appeal for your support to help save the life of a youth who is my brother and only sibling.
I am appealing passionately to you to use your blog as a medium to come to our aid and save the life of Oluwaseyanu Olurotimi Bashorun.

He is a 25 year old student of Applied Geology at Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) who was diagnosed of Acute Leukemia (cancer of the blood) in February this year at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

We were told that he needed to undergo a Bone Marrow Transplant as a definitive treatment for the condition. My family was devastated by this development especially since we were informed that it is a very expensive procedure and we did not have such funds.

We therefore, resorted to using immune boosters, blood transfusions and other palliative methods which did not improve his condition. He his now at a critical state between life and death at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ife.

We have spent almost N3 million naira on treatments and various tests carried out on his blood sample in and outside Nigeria. He is currently on admission in Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ife where he is undergoing series of chemotherapy.

Yesterday, the doctors had to perform a urgery on him (as his veins are weak and have collapsed through countless piercings done to transfuse him)to create a path for blood transfusion and administering of intravenous fluids which he iss constantly in need of to keep him alive before the Bone Marrow Transplant is carried out. In the process of this, a lot of air entered his lungs and it was another battle to correct that.

The Bone Marrow Transplant cannot be carried out in Nigeria so we have sourced for an invoice from a highly recommended hospital in India which shows us that the procedure will cost about N11 million naira.

At the moment my family is struggling very hard to pay the bills in OAUTH so there are no extra funds we can use to take him to India and we do not have anybody to run to for this huge amount.

We have spent a lot of money so far but this has just been for palliative measures in managing the condition. We have been told that we need to act very fast in order to save his life and help him achieve a bright and rewarding future.

We have been able to raise some form of public awareness via BlackBerry and Twitter‎ and that has got us 1.04million naira and we still need 9.96Million naira to go.

#saveseyanu is what we are using on twitter.

Please we need a wider reach so that more good hearted, willing and able people can respond to our plea.

Kindly find attached the medical report from OAUTH and the invoice from the hospital in India. The longer he is on admission in OAUTH the more money we will spen, the more complicated matters become and without the BMT there is no cure.

Oluwaseyanu's spirit is unbroken even though his body is battered and in severe pains. He has the will to be a survivor but we need the Bone Marrow Transplant to help him realize that

We need financial assistance in getting the funds required for the Bone Marrow Transplant to save his life.‎

Thank you in anticipation for using your good will and media platform in whatever way you can, to save Oluwaseyanu Bashorun.

I pray that that the Almighty God will continue to give you long life, wisdom and strength for continuous excellent performance in touching lives and being a source of hope.
