The Lagos State Governor Babtunde Raji Fashola donated N4.5m to actress Ngozi Nwosu who needs N6m for a kidney transplant in the UK.  The actress has been battling with a kidney and heart-related ailment for a while now and needed N6million for treatment abroad. She raised N2million from well meaning Nigerians a few weeks back..

Fire at Obasanjo’s Hilltop Mansion

Barely 24 hours after former President Olusegun Obasanjo celebrated the annual Ibogun Olaogun Day in his birthplace, Ibogun Olaogun, Ogun State, a section of his Hilltop mansion in Abeokuta was on Thursday gutted by fire.

Computers and office appliances were among items said to have been destroyed in the inferno.

Although no-one could ascertain the cause of the fire, sources at the mansion, who pleaded anonymity, said it could have been caused by an electrical fault.

The fire was said to have started barely 20 minutes after Obasanjo left the house for an undisclosed place. He was however said to have hurriedly returned to his burning building to supervise those fighting to quench the fire.

Tell us more about your new album

My new album is entitled Defender. This is the first time I will have a song that is the title of my album. I was thinking of the name to call the album and I have no other better name than Defender and the song happens to be one of my best tracks in the album.

Does the song Defender have anything to do with your present predicament?

 Not really. “Defender” is a love song. It is a reggae calypso mixed song. A lovely song. It has nothing to do with my personal life or condition.

Why the song Ota Mi Leyin Mi, who do you think are the enemies behind you?

Ota Mi Leyin Mi is one of those songs. All of a sudden I discovered that people started avoiding me. You all heard about the fight I had with my former landlord. But I think everything happened for good because I’ve learnt a lot from it. It was a bad experience that I will not forget in a hurry. I was in a hostile environment in the midst of Yoruba people. I was just caught up with so many ideologies. So, Otami Leyin Mi is for those who claimed they are friends and they are not really friends. Those kinds of friends should get out of my back. Some people are actually out there and they claim to be your friends while they are not. They need to leave you alone so you can move on with your life.

Since your landlord ejected you, you’ve not really come out to state what actually transpired between both of you. What really happened?


Like I always say, something that happened to someone else, don’t be surprised when it happens to you, that is my major philosophy of life. Because all these Lagos landlords are wicked and I’m just happy that Governor Fashola is stepping in. Now some things have been reduced to a considerable limit.
Then I was living at Lakeview Estate in Festac Town, I had a landlord who always wanted you to pay money and did not want to put anything in place in the house. Basic things in the house were not there and he demanded for money all the time. And I was like, “I can’t be paying while you are not doing anything, so let me use the money to do those things.” But he insisted I pay the money that he’d do it; but after paying, he wouldn’t do anything.

Ngozi Nwosu is dying. She has lost it all; weight, strength and vigour but not her talent and deep sense of humour which she displayed during the over one and a half hours we spent together recently. Her emotions ranged from profound despair to occasional outbursts of laughter at her own jokes.
When i got a call from the organisers of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to come play in the special Celebrity Edition last week, i did not know it was the cause of our Dear Ngozi i will be playing for until I got there. The Director revealed this to me few minutes before recording began as Ngozi sauntered in.

Five siblings die in Lagos fire

According to punchng

Five children between the ages of four and 12 were killed in an inferno in the Kirikiri area of Lagos State on Thursday.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the five children, Emeka 12, Ifeanyi 10, Chinasa eight, Joy six, and Bright four, who are of the same parents, were burnt alive at their home located at 29 Comfort Oboh Street, Kirikiri.

The parents of the victims were identified as Ogbonna and Margaret Igwuagwu.

Our correspondent learnt that although over 30 people live in the compound, which was completely consumed by the fire, only the five children died.

I am still performing at shows and getting well paid for it. I am not competing with him either. My fans still show me love. But then, in Nigeria, all of us actually have the same fans. If I mount the stage, people will scream. They will do the same thing if Tuface appears on stage, too. This shows that the sky is big enough for all of us. You cannot be alone in the music industry. We need more people. This is not a one-man show.

Gunman kills atleast 27 people including 18 children and headteacher in US school massacre

A GUNMAN is feared to have killed 27 people including 18 children in one of the deadliest school shootings in US history.
The shooter - believed to be 24-years-old from New Jersey - is confirmed dead and body still inside the school.After the gunman believed to be a student's father opened fire today at an elementary school in Connecticut making it the worst school shooting in U.S. history.
Police were dispatched to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown after they received reports of shots being fired by a gunman in one of the kindergarten classrooms of the school at 9.35am.

Tiwa Bankole, the singer who was allegedly stabbed by her landlord’s son, Tobi Obadina, has said she thought she was going to die.

According to her, Tobi constantly harasses tenants and gets away with it.

“When he was stabbing me, I started bleeding profusely and I thought I was going to die,” she said.

Bankole, who spoke with our correspondent on her hospital bed at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos on Thursday, said she did nothing to warrant the attack.

Husband irons his own face while trying to impress his wife with housework

A HAPLESS husband trying to convince his wife that he was hot at doing housework ended up accidentally ironing his face.
